FOUNDATIONAL AND CONCEPTUAL ISSUES IN BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS

The purpose of this section is to give readers clear and concise practical information regarding concepts,  principles and debates within the field of behavior analysis.

You will find that many commonly used terms have more than one usage. Where this is the case we have tried to come to some agreement on the most accurate usage of the term or a best definition.

Where there is still no consensus on the use of a term we indicate that as well, and try to provide objective information as to where the debate lies and the positions that have been taken on those points.

It is our view that the strength of behavior analysis lies in its focus on object technologically sound descriptions of behavior and the procedures used to alter behavior. It is the goal of this section to help all behavior analysts become stronger conceptually and technically,  providing clarity and standards with respect to our terminology.
